The library

Eight species. Eight different molecules.

Every medicinal mushroom carries its own chemical signature. Beta-glucans train the immune system across all of them — but the erinacines, the triterpenes and the cordycepin each go somewhere different. Filter by what you're looking for.

The five-step cascade · beta-1,3/1,6-glucans

A beta-glucan never touches the tumour.

It works by being mistaken for a fungal pathogen. That false alarm reprograms the immune system to find, mark and destroy what it was already ignoring. Here is the chain of events, from the gut wall to long-term immune memory.

Step 01 · Recognition
Read this part carefully. Fungal beta-glucans have no direct toxicity against tumour cells. Their documented value is as an adjuvant — used alongside chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy under the supervision of your oncology team. ChampiTec extracts are food supplements. They are not a medicine and never a replacement for treatment.

The chemistry

Five families of molecules, eight ways of combining them.

Beta-glucans get all the attention because they are common to every species. The interesting differences live elsewhere — in the triterpenes, the nucleosides and the small aromatic compounds that each fungus makes and no other does. Pick a family to see who carries it.

Triterpenes: the bitter half of the extract

Tetracyclic and pentacyclic terpenoids, structurally close to steroid hormones. Water alone will not pull them out of the fruiting body, which is why a hot-water-only extract loses most of what makes Reishi and Chaga worth taking.

What the numbers say

Potency you can check against a certificate.

Beta-glucan content by species

Typical range in a ChampiTec 10:1 hot-water/ethanol dual extract, measured by enzymatic assay (Megazyme). Grain-grown mycelium products commonly test below 10%.

Turkey Tail PSK as a surgical adjuvant

Survival reported in Japanese randomised trials of PSK (Krestin) added to standard care after resection — gastric at five years, colorectal at ten. Illustrative of published cohorts, not a promise of outcome.

The doses

One size. 100 grams. Sealed in foil.

Extract powder oxidises in light and takes on water from the air. Every dose ships in a heat-sealed mylar pouch with a desiccant and a batch code you can look up. One pouch is roughly a two-month course for one adult.

Dose planner

General guidance based on common supplement ranges (roughly 20–60 mg of extract per kg per day). It is not a prescription. If you are in treatment, agree the dose with your doctor.

Who it's for

The whole household, at different doses.

Our trademark covers supplements for people and for animals, and the difference between them is mostly arithmetic. Same extract, smaller spoon.

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, before surgery, or with immunosuppressants and anticoagulants without medical advice. Reishi and Cordyceps can interact with blood-thinning and blood-pressure medication.

Straight answers

Fruiting body or mycelium — which do I get?

Both, deliberately, and the pouch says which. Hericenones sit in the fruiting body while erinacines are produced by the mycelium, so Lion's Mane is blended from the two. Everything else is fruiting body only. We never sell myceliated grain as "extract" — that is mostly starch, and it is why some products test at 5% beta-glucans.

How is it extracted?

Dual extraction over 72 hours. Hot water pulls the beta-glucans and the PSK-type polysaccharopeptides; ethanol pulls the triterpenes, the ganoderic acids and the sterols. Water alone leaves half of Reishi behind; alcohol alone leaves the glucans behind.

Can I take this during chemotherapy?

Only with your oncologist's agreement, and tell them the exact species and dose. Some centres actively use fungal adjuvants, others avoid anything antioxidant during specific cycles. We will send your medical team the full certificate of analysis if you ask.

What does the batch code tell me?

Harvest date, substrate, extraction lot, beta-glucan and alpha-glucan percentages, heavy metals, pesticide screen and microbiology. Type it into the batch lookup and the lab PDF opens.

Where do you ship, and how fast?

Worldwide from Spain. Two to four working days inside the EU, five to nine elsewhere. Free over €90. Customs paperwork for supplements is included for the UK, US, Canada, Switzerland and Norway.

Is any of this approved medicine?

PSK from Turkey Tail is an approved prescription drug in Japan, where it has been reimbursed since the 1970s. That is a purified pharmaceutical, not a supplement, and it is not what you are buying here. In the EU our products are food supplements and we are not allowed to claim they treat disease — nor would we.
